Shara D. Taylor

 

Shara D. Taylor serves as the Assistant Executive Director for YFS.  She is a graduate of Howard University, where she received her bachelor's degree in marketing, cum laude.  While at Howard, Shara held several positions with the school's student-run newspaper, The Hilltop, including staff writer, Campus editor, and online editor.  She also served as a School of Business Team Leader and was president of her Team Leader class.

After graduation, Shara accepted a job with Lincoln Financial Group as a Marketing Associate in their Professional Development Program.  Realizing that Corporate America was not for her, she left to pursue more fulfilling endeavors.  In 2007, she worked as an independent consultant for SoulGenesis, a lifestyle media company focused on high-quality, positive music and socially responsible living.

In September 2008, Shara will begin studying for her master's degree in city and regional planning at the University of Pennsylvania's School of Design.  Her long-term goals include developing self-sustaining African American communities built around local entrepreneurship and solid educational institutions.  Originally from Memphis, TN, she now resides in Philadelphia.
