Shesheena Bray

The youngest member of the YFS board, 22 year old Shesheena A. Bray is a recent graduate of Temple University. Originally from Boston Massachusetts, Shesheena has taken to the city of brotherly love with open arms. While she delved into her majors Political Science and African American studies, she took an uncharacteristic turn of many college undergraduates towards political organizing through community organizations.

Before she found her permanent home with Sankofa Community Empowerment, Inc., she also did work with the UNIA, People’s Community Organization and Blacks Against Displacement. An activist and youth advocate, she strikes the perfect balance of her New Yorker/ Ghanaian roots. In the summer of 2005, she and Shantrelle Lewis travelled to Ghana, experiencing the continent of Africa for the first time.

As an active member of Sankofa Community Empowerment and YFS, Shesheena keeps herself grounded in the community. When she is not teaching, leading discussions, facilitating workshops or planning activities for the youth in her community, she is making her friends laugh with her sharp wit. Her commitment to the vision of YFS grows out of her long standing belief that strong institutions are the natural out growth of a strong nation. Currently Shesheena works as an Academic Counselor at Harcum College. She plans to enter graduate studies in the Fall of 2008.
